It’s been a busy couple o’ weeks. This past Tuesday we played the 7th St. Entry w/ Holorado and Besnard Lakes who were…epic. I also got to sneak over and catch me some Yeasayer at the Main Room. Definitely a different crowd, but those kids on stage were pret-tee fun. The Friday before that we were back at the Kitty Kat with our ol’ pals in Space Land and Time, formerly Victory Ship. Those boys can bring some mean rock ‘n roll I tell ya.

This week we take the stage with Communist Daughter for Wheeler’s CD release at the Nomad (Saturday May 8). Then (oh yes, there’s more) we hit the Varsity the following Thursday (May 13) with the Alarmists. Then back in the studio. For realsies.

Sunday, Nov 12th we’ll be playing the Turf Club with Ben Kyle, Chris Koza, John Hermanson, Linnea Mohn and Wes Burdine. Needless to say, we’re pretty excited. The show is a benefit/fund raiser for an ambitious recording project for Mercy Seat Lutheran. Local music luminaries, including all those listed above, have met (or accepted) the creative challenge of composing original settings of the old Lutheran liturgies. The results so far have been stunning. From loungy Jazz to mournful alt-contry; from Beach Boysy pop to textured ambience a-la Sigur Ros. They really are that good.

Now we just need to get them down on tape.

The recording will be done at Ben Kyle’s Slow Studios in MPLS. The Turf Club has been cool enough to give the Church the whole door charge ($6). We just need to get everybody our buying their tasty adult beverages to make it worth their while. So come out.

Bonus: there will be Christmas songs. Bounce over to our Facebook page and suggest a song for us to learn.

Tonight at 9:00 you should all go to the Turf Club (University and Snelling). We play first, then the other two bands: Farewell Milwaukee and the Crossing Guards, both of which are releasing cds. We’re super stoked that they chose to have us along since it will no doubt be an awesome party.

And come back here once in a while to see if I ever get around to building a real live web site.

Peace!
